Jodie & Soda’s car fry-up in 45 degree heat

Former Assistant Editor

As Adelaide swelters through a day in which many suburbs hit 45 degrees plus, Mix 102.3‘s Jodie and Soda decided to conduct an experiment.

Several temperature records are set to be broken today, so the Breakfast duo went to test the old adage that you can fry an egg on a car bonnet in hot enough weather.

City Holden Adelaide generously donated a brand new car as the surface to do the cooking, so Jodie and Soda then cracked two eggs with bacon on the bonnet.

They then added sausages and hash browns inside the car on the dash to see if the inside of the car was hotting up enough.

After a while… things were lookin’ pretty good!

Here's an update on the eggs and bacon on the City Holden & HSV, Adelaide bonnet.Who's hungry?

A car paint expert called into the show with concern, to explain why you shouldn’t try this at home.

“[The] egg will eat right through your paint… I just hope City Holden has paint protection on the car,” said the caller, Matt McDonald from SA’s Motor Trade Association.
