Jo Stanley wants to write a book about getting fired

Staff Writer

Jo Stanley was one of the most-loved and top-rating comedians on FM radio in Melbourne.

On the latest episode of Game Changers: Radio with Craig Bruce, Stanley holds little back on her time at Fox FM Gold FM.

She is the only female presenter in Melbourne to host number 1 breakfast shows on separate FM stations. Fired from both gigs, the comedian shares her desire to write a book about getting fired.

Discovered at a Melbourne standup comedy club by former Austereo boss Jeff Allis, Stanley began her radio career on Fox in Melbourne with Jodie J Hill in 2001.

In 2004 she moved into breakfast with long-time on-air partner Matt Tilley, beginning a 10-year partnership which saw the show consistently ranked in Melbourne.

Jo then moved to Gold FM in 2015, joining comedian Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehman on breakfast. Jo and Lehmo enjoyed their first number 1 result in survey 7 in 2017.

One of the best episodes yet. Love it when Jo says she hasn’t heard at all from management on her firing. Brutal business when you’re let go and no one reaches out. Nice work Jo and Craig.

Apologies to Chrissie. Jo is in great company. I will have a stern word to my researcher when I see him in the mirror tonight…
