“It’s almost as if we ran the race, then went back to the start”; Ben & Liam on ‘Radio Randomly’

Fresh off their strong results in Survey #4 of 2018, triple j Breakfast duo Ben and Liam dropped in to chat with host Gawndy to chat name changes, how their sound has evolved and who is the physically superior member of the pair.

After cutting their teeth on community radio in Adelaide and taking over from Matt and Alex in the start of 2017, Ben reflected on the work that the duo has had to do to acclimatise to the triple j environment.

“It’s been interesting because we did community radio for a couple years, we almost had to relearn everything…it’s almost as if we ran the race, then went back to the start. I feel like now we’re well and truly into it,” Ben said.

“The biggest learning curve we had was actually talking about serious things, I think one of the biggest things we’ve learnt was having light and shade.”

“We’re not saying that we have a super serious show by any means,” added Liam.

“But we can sit down and do some tougher interviews and touch on things that aren’t necessarily peachy in the world.”
