Hit105’s Dashboard Bingo the perfect foil for a car-based audience

At a time when original content is hard to come by, Hit105 in Brisbane have come up with a fresh new listener competition called ‘Dashboard Bingo’.

Starting Monday at at 7am, the Breakfast team of Stav, Abby and Matt will read out a random number each day, and if that matches to the odometer of one of their listeners at the time – they win a Holden Astra.

It’s a tactic that is not only unique, but perfectly targets the bulk of the Breakfast audience, most of whom are listening in cars on the way to work.

Hit105 CD Matthew ‘Eggo’ Eggleston tells Radio Today that one third of the Brekky trio, Stav Davidson, came up with the crux of the idea.

Dashboard Bingo is all about “creating a FOMO moment,” says Eggo.

“We just wanted to really think outside the box on how can radio stand out in a new way but at the same time keep the idea really simple and easy to understand.”

The new competition has been created as part of a wider move to try and find unique ways to separate Hit105’s Breakfast show from other shows at that time of morning.

On the marketing side of things, Hit105 has just kicked off a radio-first campaign with GOA Billboards in Brisbane which allows their marketing billboards to be updated in real time.

Eggo says it gives the station “an amazing opportunity to target our marketing right down to the minute it hits the airways and then update it following the content being on the air, and create a FOMO moment like we will do around Dashboard Bingo over the coming weeks.”

Dashboard Bingo starts Monday March 12.

Stav, Abby and Matt can be heard from 6am – 9am Weekdays on Hit105 Brisbane.
