Games ‘beat radio’ say EA

Staff Writer

The ad-tech digital marketing conference is on this week in Sydney with a raft of speakers, including Christopher Erb from EA Sports.

Erb is the VP of Brand Marketing for EA Sports, with responsibility for the brands video game products which include Madden NFL, FIFA, Tiger Woods PGA, NHL, NBA, NCAA, SSX and Fight Night.

In a presentation yesterday at ad-tech Erb made the statement:

“…having a song in a (video) game like John Madden (Madden NFL) is equal to a billion radio plays…”

There is no doubt that video games have offered a completely new, and powerful, way of reaching consumers and music artists, their management and record companies have recognized this.

One of the 'early adopters' was Linkin Park (above), who were forming partnerships with video game brands years before it was an accepted pathway.
