Fitzy & Wippa get Richard Wilkins to stitch up Bundaberg community station with ‘traffic’ report

Nova 96.9‘s Fitzy and Wippa have recruited veteran entertainment journo Richard Wilkins for their latest prank.

Dickie came into the studio for the prank, which involved calling up a community radio station – Encore 96.3FM in Bundaberg, to give them a traffic report.

The catch was that the report was actually a review of the 2000 Steven Soderbergh-directed film Traffic.

Hello, is this traffic?” asks Wilkins. “I want to give you a traffic report.”

“You’ve got Encore community radio,” responds the woman on the other end.

“Have you seen traffic?” he continues. “I’ve seen traffic, it’s a stunning film, acted with ensemble of crisp performances with overwhelming depth to them.

He continued to review the movie, before declaring that he’d give it “four stars.”

I’ll pass that on to our listeners,” responded the call taker. “We’re just a wee community station here in Bundaberg. Thank you very much for that, very impressive.”
