Terry Hansen farewells 97.3FM

The team at Brisbane’s 97.3FM has been left reeling with news that Terry Hansen is leaving the Breakfast show.

Terry made the shock announcement this morning, telling listeners that he’d decided to leave his radio home of 14-years for health and family reasons.

He also explained that ARN management had tried to convince him to stay on with an offer of reduced hours or anything that would keep him on-air as part of the ‘Bianca, Terry and Bob Show’.

But after a health scare late last year, and prompted by the concerns of his family, Terry decided leaving radio was the right thing to do.

My family has been adamant that they want me well first and foremost. My daughter told me that she would not take up her place in Melbourne if it meant that I had to keep working so hard.”

“My wife, who is a brilliant and supportive woman, told me that she doesn’t think I can get myself right while doing such a big job.”

97.3FM’s Content Director Barry Drinkwater says he’ll be a tough act to follow, but the station fully supports his decision to leave.

“All at 97.3FM are saddened that Terry will be leaving the Breakfast Show, however we fully support him to spend more time on his health and family.

“Terry has been an integral part of Brisbane. There are so many great achievements for Terry, the Breakfast team, and the station over the years, not least most recently with Bianca and Bob.

“We will have an exciting announcement in the coming weeks regarding Terry’s replacement to join Bianca and Bob, and we’ll be focusing over the next month on celebrating his fabulous contribution of the last 14 years.”
