Drex lands new show in Canada

Australian-born broadcaster Justin “Drex” Wilcomes is making waves in Canada, where he’s been announced as the host of a new, late-night talk show on Corus Radio.

The Shift With Drex launches on January 22, and will be heard on talk radio stations across Canada.

It’s being pitched as a fresh take on the day’s biggest headlines, with Drex to interact with audiences every night to get them involved in the conversation.

“It’s stories, it’s opinion, it’s culture, it’s irreverent and it’s Canadian,” says Troy Reeb, Senior Vice-President, Global News and Corus Radio. The Shift with Drex will tap into the common humour, pride and honesty that pulls our country together”.

Not bad for a boy from Oz. And as for the expat, he says he’s looking forward to a “fun ride ahead”.

“My goal is to challenge the status-quo by delivering a program that’s both entertaining and thought-provoking.”

Wilcomes started his radio career at triple j in 1995, before being picked up by DMG radio in 2001. He immigrated to Canada in 2009.

I am really not happy that C to C has been replaced with this fluff. George Noory had his challenges but at least he had on some intelligent guests and the topics would be long enough to get involved. This shift show has the format of a tabloid newspaper, not too challenging. My understanding was the Corus replaced C to C because there was too much politics which to me is another left wing attempt to stifle anything non liberal.
