Crocmedia & Pacific Star Network, a done deal?

Staff Writer

It would seem a merger between Crocmedia and the owner of Melbourne sports station 1116 SEN is just about a done deal.

For past month or so, Pacific Star Network has been going through due diligence with a view to merging with the Melbourne-based production house.

It’s now been placed in a trading halt ahead of an expected announcement, which could come as early as this week.

Pacific Star Network also owns a number of magazine titles and digital radio assets and it’s not yet clear whether the merger deal involves all of PSN or just SEN.

However, what is already clear, is that the two merged businesses would be led by Crocmedia boss, Craig Hutchison (pictured).

It’s also been a big week of change for 1116 SEN.

Just days ago, it announced sports broadcaster Gerard Whateley agreed to move from ABC to SEN, to become chief sports caller, spearheading the station’s football and racing coverage.

He’ll also host his own “signature” morning show to be known as Whateley. He joins the station on January 29.
