Confirmed: Smooth national on DAB

Staff Writer

dmg radio Australia have today, on Valentines Day, launched the smooth brand nationally with the format available on DAB+ in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

The smooth brand rollout means that dmg have removed dance format Novanation in Perth and Adelaide from the digital platform. Novanation remains available on DAB+ in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The announcing lineup on the Sydney and Melbourne smooth stations will voice-track for the new DAB+ brand, and the weekend feature programs will also be replicated on the digital platform.

In a media release, dmg's Paul Jackson commented;

“We are delighted with the rapid success of smoothfm in Sydney and Melbourne. It was always our intention to create a national brand for both our listeners and clients. We regularly get emails asking how listeners can hear smoothfm outside of Melbourne and Sydney so we are looking forward to extending smoothfm’s unique and distinctive format into five capital cities.”

The new smooth DAB format is available now in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth through DAB+, as well as online and the iphone app.
