Christian O’Connell says his bags are “packed and shipped”, will start at GOLD FM on June 4

Former Assistant Editor

Incoming Gold FM Breakfast host Christian O’Connell is set to start at the station on Monday June 4.

ARN axed Jo Stanley and Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann last year, despite the duo making it to the top of the FM Breakfast ratings – but didn’t announce a replacement.

Now, after months of speculation, it appears that O’Connell has been locked in for the June start at Gold FM.

No co-host has been announced as yet, while an ARN spokesperson told Radio Today recently that a shift towards more music will carry GOLD listeners through to O’Connell’s arrival.

“Troy’s contract was extended until the end of survey 1 which is March 2. Christian’s arrival to Melbourne was always planned for Q2 and there is no change to this timeline.”

O’Connell looks set to depart the UK in the next day or so, as he tweeted just hours ago, “all our worldly goods are packed and shipped to Australia.”

Nah on his podcast/Absolute radio show he is organising a live final show in London sometime in May. His stuff might start shipping but I don’t think he is leaving U.K. In the next few days.

Does he even know where his bags are being shipped to? Its a place called Melbourne. Just wanted him to know where to get off the plane so he doesn’t miss his first on air shift. It should be a doozy. I’m looking forward to his first link about AFL hahaha
