Christian O’Connell broadcasts live from Andy Lee’s couch as England crash out of the World Cup

Christian O’Connell started off his Gold104.3 Breakfast show a little differently this morning, broadcasting live while watching the Football World Cup semi-final.

Christian’s beloved England were defeated by Croatia, and as a true fan Christian was up bright and early to watch the game with sidekick Jack, with the game kicking off at 4am.

The last knockings of the fixture crossed over with the start of the Gold FM Breakfast show, so Christian and Jack started their show watching the game from Andy Lee‘s couch (where Jack is house-sitting).

Once it became apparent that Croatia had won, Christian was devastated.

“This is heart-breaking, this is what sport does to you. It gives you hope and then it crushes your heart.”

When they got back in the studio, they received a call from Andy, who was not too happy about the way Jack has been treating his house.

“You don’t invite guests round, you wear the person’s clothes,” Andy laughed.

“It’s still my house, have you changed the locks on me, are you just squatting there now?”
