Brooke Boney & KLP to depart triple j at year’s end

Former Assistant Editor

triple j is losing two of its most-loved voices, with Breakfast newsreader Brooke Boney and House Party’s KLP both to farewell the station at the end of the year.

Brooke has served as the source of news on Ben and Liam‘s Brekky show every morning for the last two years and announced she’d be leaving triple j live on air this morning.

She also revealed that she won’t be leaving the ABC altogether.

“I’m really going to miss waking up with all of you and my lovely mates Ben and Liam but I’m super excited to be working on some new stuff across other parts of the ABC!” she said.

“I have always been a triple j listener and (like many of you) feel like it formed a big part of who I am today, so it’s been a real honour.”

Brooke will be replaced on Breakfast by Alice Matthews, who already reads news across other dayparts for triple j and is a reporter on Hack.

Alice won a Walkley Award in 2015 for Young Journalist of the Year (Radio).

Also departing triple j is House Party host KLP, who leave the station after five years.

Five years flies when you’re having a ball partying with Australia every Saturday night!” she said.

“I grew up listening to triple j and never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would one day be the host of a show that is full of so much music and good energy.

“While I love being on the radio, writing and performing music of my own has always been my number one love, and I’ve decided to step back so I have more time to focus on that.

“I’ve been working away on some exciting releases that I can’t wait to share with you in 2019!”

In other programming moves, Double J show Fat Planet with Stu Buchanan will become a segment on Arvos with Time Shiel, and Double J is set to announce two new programs in 2019.

triple j is also set to announce a new House Party presenter for next year.
