“This is baffling”: Social media reacts to Jo and Lehmo departure from GOLD
It should be Rule #1 of management in the 21st century: don’t piss off social media. Or do it at your own peril. Or if you like being roasted and toasted.
The social media response was fast and furious to the news that ARN has pulled the plug on the number one FM breakfast show in Melbourne: Gold 104’s Jo and Lehmo.
Barely a week after being crowned the best on the FM dial, the pair has been ‘let go’ – a decision that’s left everyone scratching their heads. And not just those in the ‘biz.
It was co-host Jo Stanley who broke the news to her followers/listeners/friends/family:
Sad news. @ausradionetwork are not renewing #joandlehmo in 2018. Here's @lehmo23 and my response. For more info, listen to @gold1043 tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/CWWoZcCioG

As for Lehmo, he was trying to find the funny side in re-tweeting a comment from a less than appreciative listener.
Don’t you hate it when your boss jumps on Twitter! #joandlehmo https://t.co/bakFyQgOEa

There’s always one in the crowd.
Colleagues from across the dial jumped on Twitter. Newly installed Hot Breakfast co-host Wil Anderson among them.
The rest of the media jumped on board the ‘whaaat’ train.
Jo and Lehmo will be hanging up the headphones, despite the best breakfast result for @gold1043 in more than 10 years https://t.co/ELrtCm1oOq

As for the listeners, they were just as confused by the decision made by ARN.
It was just the tip of the iceberg.
The tweets kept flooding in as listeners in Melbourne (and some overseas) queried the sanity of ARN management.
And it being Melbourne, there was a Richmond Premiership reference.
Twitter provides a small snapshot of what hundreds of thousands of rusted on Gold listeners must be thinking, but so too do the comments from Radio Today readers.
And while the new breakfast line up is probably weeks away from being announced, it could take a while to win back fans.
