Charlie got his break at 2SM working with Ian Grace. He then went on to be Triple M Sydney’s PD  and Group PD– working with a long list of names like Mulray and Denton at a time when the guy who actually owned the station was in your corner…. Rod Muir.

What happens when that owner wanders by and utters four  words you don’t want to hear?

“Music’s fucked Fix it”

Charlie will say that Rod was “very scary… but an incredible guy”. He was also the one who signed off on Triple M stumping up a huge wad of cash to craft the legendary Doctor Dan TVC. How much? Find out, but in typical Rod Muir fashion the new TV ad  – “better be fucking good then”

These days Charlie is the CD for both WSFM and the Edge 96 One in Sydney and we ask if radio was simpler back then.  “The person who owned the radio was in the corner office.”

Today, “It’s all about shareholder value and the bottom line.”

So what is the biggest challenge for radio right now?
