What appears to be a planned arson attack against MRN’s 6PR, took the station Off-Air Sunday morning.

At around 10:15am, fire alarms went off and all staff in the building which also houses Fairfax print mast WAToday were evacuated.

WAToday reported that staff rushed down fire stairs and through an emergency corridor which was filled with the smell of smoke.

With both entrances to the building alight they also reported that the fires included accelerants, taking 6PR Off-Air for a period of time.

After getting back On-Air  Bob Maumill and Jo McManus shared what happened saying:

“There was a fire at the main entrance and there was another fire at the escape area near the fire stairs that we would use in an emergency”.
