Alan Jones to Melbourne

Staff Writer

2GB's Alan Jones has been confirmed to perform in the Melbourne season of the musical 'Annie'.

The run will last 12-weeks at the Regent Theatre, and he will broadcast his program back to Sydney from Melbourne each morning. Speaking to News Limited, producer John Frost commented on Jones:

"He's really nuts about doing the show, so I went, 'Ok, well you fit the costume and know the words so why not'.''

Jones has displayed very un-diva like behaviour during his time in the Sydney production of Annie. He adopted the dog that was sacked from the show for stage fright and took the entire cast and crew on an extravagant day out at his country home.

Two helicopters and a bus transported everyone to Jones' Southern Highlands retreat, where they enjoyed a three-course meal and live entertainment in a marquee set up on the tennis court.

Frost said as well as being an amiable cast member, Jones' performance as the wheelchair-bound President Roosevelt – alongside stage stars such as Anthony Warlow and Nancye Hayes – had been "terrific''.
