AFTRS graduates go national with iHeartRadio Australia

Former Features Editor

Following the success of the last pop up in August, AFTRS’ fourth and final temporary station of the year is now live online and via the iHeartRadio Australia app.

The AFTRS Graduate Diploma of Radio students’ broadcast is the final assessment before the class of 2017 hit the industry, and iHeartRadio Australia Content Director Brett ‘Nozz’ Nossiter is honoured to be part of the final part of the students’ education.

“I’m thrilled to once again support the industries’ next generation of content creators by hosting NEXT, and the podcast series on iHeartRadio; making the work of these bright new stars available and accessible anywhere in Australia,” he said.

NEXT is a contemporary talk and music station that targets a market of 18 to 24 year olds across Australia, and aims to bridge a gap between mainstream and alternative music that is designed to play both the music you love now and the music you’re going to love next.

“The class worked with Cherie Romaro and GFK to identify a viable gap in the Australian market – a young, smart, talk station with new music!” AFTRS Head of Radio Fyona Smith said.

The station will also air several short podcast series, available online.

“I’m excited to be involved in the podcasting aspect of radio and to see where that heads in the future,” Graduate Diploma Radio student Ellie Parnell said.

“I can’t imagine any other environment where I would have the opportunity to learn so much about everything in radio,” NEXT Content Director (and AFTRS student) Grace Garde added. “I’m so excited for NEXT and for the rest of my career!”

NEXT is live from the October 16 to October 27 and you can listen here and iHeartRadio.
