AFL season kicks off on SEN

The AFL footy season is about to kick off and the radio big guns are coming out to play in round one.

Taking on 3AW and Triple M will be the new-look 1116 SEN, now calling itself “Melbourne’s home of footy”. It launches its 2018 season coverage with an all-new call team headed by former ABC broadcaster Gerard Whateley.

Joining him in the commentary box will be Peter Donegan, Kevin Bartlett, Tristan Foenander and Anthony Hudson. Special comments will be provided by Nick Dal Santo, Danny Frawley, Adam Cooney, Terry Wallace, Bob Murphy and AFL-W star Daisy Pearce.

The new team will call the top rating Saturday and Sunday afternoon time slots throughout the home and away season and finals including the 2018 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

In addition, 1116 SEN listeners will hear AFL Nation calls broadcast on the station on Friday nights, Saturday twilight, Saturday night and each Sunday twilight game throughout the season.

The award-winning Crunch Time returns in 2018 each Saturday morning between 11am-1pm, with the second hour of the program being heard across regional Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Southern New South Wales.

1116 SEN General Manager Sam Bingley says listeners can look forward to a dynamic and entertaining season on SEN Football in 2018.

“SEN Football is a key pillar of the station’s new era and we are looking forward to welcoming new on-air talent to the broadcast this season.

“With the introduction of Gerard Whateley leading the team of play-by-play callers, the 2018 broadcast promises to be one of the strongest since the station’s inception,” Bingley said.

1116 SEN Football can be heard on 1116 SEN and SEN.com.au
