ABC journalist Leigh Sales on her dream of becoming a Broadway superstar

Staff Writer

This week on You’ve Gotta Start Somewhere, Rachel Corbett chats with the host of the ABC’s flagship current affairs program 730, Leigh Sales.

Leigh has worked both in Australia and overseas as a television, radio and print journalist and spent 2001-2005 as the ABC’s Washington Correspondent in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

In this episode, Leigh talks about how Australian politics feels like Dubbo city council when you return from covering the White House, her thoughts on politicians refusal to give a straight answer, the social awkwardness of political interviews and her dreams of becoming a Broadway superstar.

You’ve Gotta Start Somewhere is a podcast that goes behind the scenes of show business to prove there’s no such thing as an overnight success.

Each week Rachel chats with well-known media personalities about how they got into the business, how they’ve managed to stay there and what it takes to build a successful career.
