ABC casts all-female lineup for IWD

International Women’s Day on March 8 will yield an all-female lineup of presenters and guests across ABC radio, television and digital platforms.

The move reflects the day’s theme of #BeBoldForChange which focuses on gender equality in all communities.

ABC Radio will also showcase the extraordinary breadth of female broadcasting and creative talent with all-women presenters across all networks. Special content will feature throughout the day exploring gender issues and equality.

The day will commence at 6am with an all-female lineup on ABC News Breakfast leading major radio, TV news bulletins and current affairs programs across the day on NewsRadio and News 24.

In the evening, ABC Radio will present an All-Star Entertainment Debate: That Motherhood Is Overrated. Hitting local radio at 9:05pm, it stars a plethora of Australia’s finest female talent in a heady collision of heart and humour.

The program is hosted by Libbi Gorr and will feature Wendy Harmer, Elaine Crombie, Showko Showfukutei, Patricia Karvelas, Effie The Virgin Bride (aka Mary Coustas) and Julia Zemiro.

Radio Australia’s news and current affairs programs in Tok Pisin and English will also be presented by women and will portray stories about inspirational women across the Pacific.
