Another Million bucks gone!

Staff Writer

Southern Cross Austereo are likely to be 'enemy number one' with insurance companies after the 'million dollar head in the sand' promotion today gave away a million dollars for the second time.

After 2Day FM had a listener beat the odds to win the prize recently, this morning it was Fox FM's turn at St Kilda Beach.

Watch the video here of the moment a Fox FM listener won a million dollars, and the moment an insurance company representative started looking for a career change. The contestant had five minutes to dig on St Kilda beach to find a maximum of five 'heads' of the 80 buried. She located four. From those four, she could choose only one to open, if it contained her picture, she won the major prize.

Generally with a mechanic like this, insurance will cost in the vicinity of 25-35 thousand dollars, so from SCA's point of view it is a pretty cheap way to give away a million….although insurance premiums might rise following today.

The next SCA station running the promotion is 92.9 in Perth. The odds are astronomical of the prize going off once, let alone twice, so surely there won't be a third time?
