3pm Pick-Up’s Yumi Stynes addresses Kerri-Anne Kennerley stoush

Former Assistant Editor

Yumi Stynes has spoken out for the first time since her stoush with Studio 10 host Kerri-Anne Kennerley.y6

On Monday’s episode of the Network Ten morning show, Kennerley questioned the motivations of those who took part in the Invasion Day marches across the country over the weekend, prompting Yumi to suggest that the host was “sounding racist”.

Speaking on ARN‘s 3pm Pick-Up today, Yumi stood by her words.

“I’ve had a lot of friends reach out to me and make sure I’m okay. It’s been quite stressful being on the front page and having lots of media ring me up”.

She also revealed that she’s received death threats since the incident too.

“The fact is that I’ve looked back at the tape from yesterday and I’m pretty happy with what I said.”

Yumi also alleged that Kennerley had said (off camera) that “Indigenous Australians just need to get over it”.
