Neil Mitchell interviews controversial Queensland Senator Fraser Anning

Former Assistant Editor

Neil Mitchell aired a bizarre interview with Queensland Senator Fraser Anning this morning.

The senator made headlines this week advocating for using the phrase “final solution” while advocating for a new White Australia policy.

Fraser Anning is wrong. Very wrong,” said Neil on 3AW Mornings.

“But he is an elected member … (and) I wanted to let him put his view across. I also wanted to debate certain points, although I don’t think there’s much point…”

During the interview, Senator Anning refused to apologise for his offensive comments earlier this week and disputed a number of points that Neil attributed to the police commissioner.

Neil also pointed out that a lot of the people Anning was taking issue with were Australian-born, to which Anning said, “Well then I’d deport them.”

Neil responded; “How can you deport them if they are Australian-born?”

Mitchell (and much of the media’s) mistake is giving credibility to Fraser and his ilk’s ‘views’ in a ‘debate.’ There is no ‘debate’ on the validity of genocide. Racists need to have a boot on their throats, not a seat at the microphone.
