2HD’s Richard King: “Did that go to air, did it?”

Former Publisher

Oops. 2HD breakfast presenter Richard King left his microphone turned on during a weather update last week, say sources.

The end result was over 90 seconds of cringe radio.

In a live cross to the local Williamtown Bureau of Meteorology just after 6am, King unknowingly interrupted BOM rep Carter by repeating the weatherman’s forecast and mocking his foreign accent live on-air.

“Oh, very very good,” King said with an Indian accent over the top of Carter’s forecast.

The audio, sent to Radio Today under anonymity, appears to be lifted from King’s show last Thursday.
After King’s first embarrassing interruption and with his microphone still switched on, King is heard asking, “Did that go to air?”
As Carter attempted to maintain his professionalism and push through the weather update, King can again be heard in the background laughing and asking his producer, “Did that go to air, did it?”

King has been contacted for comment but did not immediately respond.

Cringe radio alright , Its about time the tired old man hung up his microphone and went home to do his washing. sick of hearing his boring voice.
Dave Sutherland has been doing an amazing job over the Christmas break, his voice is like a breath of fresh air, he should be on air more often, listen to his show and see for yourself.
I’m sure more young people listen to 2HD when Dave Sutherland is on air.

Wow – So a clearly ‘racist’ comment went unpunished – yet Carallis crucified Marcus Paul.

So that ok to go to Air , Richard King was not taken off.
What a two faced Radio Station 2SM is.
To Mr Carallis by sacking Marcus Paul I hope you regret it as MARCUS was the best Radio Announcer you had since losing Grant Goldman and IF you had done the right thing and kept him he would of been very happy to stay for many years to come and after all he grew 2SM listeners better than anyone he was as good if not better than John Laws and how long do you think he will be there, FOREVER. I don’t think so.
If this Station Management had a heart you would bring Marcus Paul BACK.

John Laws is great, hopefully he will be around for many years

Marcus Paul was awful, glad he has gone, so rude

Enjoying Richard King.

Hi. If Richard King is allowed to get away with imitating someone’s Indian accent while on air even by mistake why then come down heavily on Marcus Paul for asking an insensitive question. Love Marcus Paul or hate him , he was an excellent presenter and drew in a larger scope of listeners. The older presenters seem to be asleep at the wheel. It’s a tired show. Exceptions are Brent Bultitude and John Laws. Both excellent presenters. My opinion ….

It’s been years since I heard you on the radio. I phoned today because of women’s day. I recently lost my husband so haven’t really had a chance. You are so enlighting. We spoke about the old days. John Carroll etc bamboo. You have never changed. Give people time to talk. It was lucky I just couldn’t sleep. Thank you for your generosity and I really appreciate genuine.

That does it Richard. Whoever approved the Big Rock Concert needs to be sacked or demoted to cleaner. The hide & disrespect of people we are nurturing in Australia is shocking.
First The Voice & even though it was voted out by the majority, Albanese lets everything go through as if we didn’t vote!! Then Australia Day, what a disgrace – shame on the Government & Australia. Now a Rock Concert has been granted on Anzac Day & to commence at 11am at the same place the Anzacs will be gathered.
Our traditional Anzac Foot Ball game is held in the afternoon, when most of the Anzac ceremonies are over. Australia needs to take a good hard look at ourselves & start ‘sticking up’ for this beautiful country & not let our traditions slip away.
