2DayFM Breakfast staff reportedly refusing to work with Em Rusciano

Staff Writer

Reports have emerged that Southern Cross Austereo staff are departing 2DayFM‘s Em, Grant and Ed Breakfast show, with several refusing to work with co-host Em Rusciano.

News Corp reports that tensions on the show are at an all-time high.

Co-host Ed Kavalee reportedly did not speak to Em during any of the breaks on their three-hour Breakfast show on Tuesday, her first show back since the podcast went live last week.

This morning Ed kicked off the show and did the first break alone, explaining that his co-hosts were out “getting a waffle”. They returned after the song that followed.

Ed is understood to have been incensed by some of Em’s comments made in Anderson’s podcast, in which she bemoaned losing her own radio show in what she called an “ego hit”.

“It was my show, and all of a sudden Ed’s anchoring,” Em said.

“I often get put together with people I would never pick to work with, just because of my personality type.”

Ash London filled in for Em on Monday, with the official report that she was out sick.

An insider told News Corp that things are at “breaking point” on the show, and that there have been “casualties at the hands of Em Rusciano.”

It’s also been reported that a publicist is refusing to work with Em.

Ed and Grant Denyer were brought in to replace the outgoing Harley Breen, who left the show in November 2017, in the latest change to the revolving door of 2DayFM Breakfast since the departure of Kyle and Jackie O in 2013.

News Corp also ran a poll in the Daily Telegraph this morning that found 54% of readers wanted new Breakfast hosts, while the current team had the support of just 3%.

43% of readers polled wanted just music in the mornings, suggesting that 2DayFM’s new ‘More Music, More Variety’ music strategy could be worth holding onto.

A spokesperson for SCA declined to give comment to Radio Today on the News Corp article.

Also saw on Ems FB that it was the anniversary of her miscarriage this week, which might explain her day off. It would be a tough time for her at the moment considering that as well.

Worked with her at 92.9 in Perth, was a horrible experience. Never again.
